March Mingle/Soft Launch

We are having our very first event on 15th March!

It will be an informal mingle and soft launch for the upcoming 800th Anniversary events and projects, as well as an information session for A level students who hold conditional offers from Cambridge. We hope to introduce everyone to the people who have been working hard on our events and projects, find out which of our initiatives interest you, and serve as friendly sources of information for the enthusiastic students who are considering a Cambridge education. The British High Commissioner, a Cantab himself, will be speaking briefly about his time in Cambridge.

Details of the event are as follows:

Date: 15th March, Saturday
Time: 4 - 6pm
Venue: Eden Hall, 28 Nassim Road (The British High Commissioner's residence)
This is a 5 - 10min walk from Tanglin Shopping Centre along Orchard Road, where you are kindly requested to park due to the limited parking space available at Eden Hall.

Please register by signing up with your details at: http://www.cambridgesocietysg.org/form.aspx

** Please indicate in the "Drop us a line!" section if you would like to attend the March Mingle/Soft Launch. As we are hoping to provide a matching service for the students so that they will have a Cantab from the same college/course to chat with, do indicate your college/course of study in the form. We would also greatly appreciate it if you could inform us if you have indicated interest to attend the event, but become unavailable for it at a later date.

We hope to see lots of you there!

The Social Ventures Portfolio

Best wishes for the New Year from all of us at the Cambridge Society! In the spirit of festivities and giving, the Society is launching The Social Ventures Portfolio.

The Social Ventures Portfolio brings together ideas on how Cantabs can give back to society in distinctive and sustainable ways. These ideas go beyond charitable giving, to challenging ourselves to invest our imagination, our time, our connections and other uniquely Cambridge assets, to bring social involvement in Singapore to the next level.
Please take a look at our Project Listings, and let us know if you're interested in committing some time to help coordinate or organise any of the programs. Once we have a firm expression of interest, our Fundraising team will get straight to work looking for a suitable corporate sponsor to take care of the monetary requirements of the program. As always, email us at cambridgesocietysg@gmail.com.

Welcome to the Cambridge Society, Singapore !

After a year of behind-the-scenes work conceptualising the Society and its goals, and getting people on board to actually start planning and executing activities, our Society now has a public face. The Official Website just went live today! This blog will run in parallel to publish news updates, until we upgrade the main website with interactive features, around January 2008.

For those of you who are new to the Society, welcome! In brief, the Society was initiated in response to the University's 800th Anniversary Campaign. We have organised a series of activities to celebrate the event, and in the process, keep Cambridge at the edge of excellence - academically, financially, and also in terms of giving back to society.

The 2008 line-up of events includes:
1) Garden Party and Formal Hall - Summer 2008
2) Local community service and social venture philanthropy - ongoing
3) Fundraising for the University's 800th Anniversary Capital Campaign - ongoing
4) Commemorative volume on Singaporeans @ Cambridge - ongoing

If you're interested in any of the above, or just being kept in the loop of Society developments in general, please sign-up to the mailing list here: http://www.cambridgesocietysg.org/form.aspx
